Or I suppose you could script something to pick "4k" (with fallback if 4k doesn't exist). If you can deal with a command-line, youtube-dl would allow you to pick what you want (from whatever is available, of course). Not to mention that 4k (playback) will have a higher CPU load (& larger download size) compared to 720.
"4k" & is there enough quality difference to justify 4k over 720? So maybe ? in these extensions, you can change from "best" to "highest bitrate"?Īlso, have you compared "720" vs. Maybe they're defaulting to what youtube-dl considers "best"?
